Letters : from Emmett Dalton and G.W. Lillie, 1929-1933.

Letters to cowboy film star, Ken Maynard, from outlaw, Emmett Dalton and from Wild West showman, G.W. Lillie, known as Pawnee Bill. The letter from Emmett Dalton, dated Oct. 20, 1933, is typed in all caps, contains misspelled English, and is signed by Dalton. It concerns making a film from his 1931 book, "When the Daltons rode." The film was eventually made by Universal in 1940, with Randolph Scott. There are two letters from G.W. Lillie. A handwritten letter on Pawnee Bill's Buffalo Ranch stationary dated Sep. 12, 1929, proposes a project for "an epic picture of Oklahoma" starring Ken Maynard, with Pawnee Bill appearing in the last scenes. A second typewritten and signed letter on Pawnee Bill's Oldtown stationary, dated Aug. 31, 1931, offers Maynard assistance with his film depiction of Buffalo Bill Cody.
